Irrigation basin in Bani Moussi!

Construction of the basin began last June thanks to the generosity of the Students Challenge 2009 participants.
In fact, 774 date palms were planted during the first edition of the SC in 2008, and 250 more completed the palm grove in 2009.
The rest of the Eco-points collected by the participants were used to finance the construction of a 100m3 water catchment basin; to buy a pump, valves, pipes, hedges of prickly pear cactus (to keep animals from trampling the plot and eating the fruit); and, of course, to pay the workers.

Today the construction of the 100m3 basin is complete and functional!
It is able to distribute enough water to irrigate the young date palms.
In 2 editions, the Green Day project, a concrete sustainable development project against desertification, under the United Nations Environmental Programme’s “Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign”, has been a complete success.
We will continue to provide updates on the Bani Moussi project and its date production in the months ahead. A huge thank-you to the AZZEKA FRANCE-MAROC association for their involvement in this project.
